The FSN Story
Fairtrade Shopping Network was conceived through a combination of inspiration, intrigue and determination.
As a young girl and the daughter of an airline pilot, Diana Duran had the opportunity to travel to far-off countries and live overseas. Early on, her experiences instilled an awareness and compassion for humanity and the desire to help those in need.
In 2007, shortly after her most recent trip to Africa, Diana
resolved to produce a television show and Web site that would benefit the lives of those in third world countries. Her inspiration came from the people she met in impoverished regions and the beautiful crafts they made.
By networking with others who showed like interests and compassion, she was able to attract the good will and commitment from Barbara Wilson, a 30-year-plus veteran of fair trade from the UK. Barbara is now a key supplier to FSN and has been able to actually witness a whole generation of fair trade families truly benefit from the sales of their fine crafts.
Soon, John, Salina and Bill joined the team, to provide their time, talent and funds. As kismet would have it, all the FSN principals have at one time been teachers and have traveled extensively, often witnessing scenes of incredible need. It is through their compassion, desire to make a better world, and volunteer activism that the FSN concept emerged. And it is through like desires of FSN customers like you that change for good can be effected.
