The Fair Trade Council of The Americas is one of the few organizations dedicated
to bridging the philanthropic approach of fair trade to the technological tools
of today. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, it is also a geographic exception to
the key fair trade promotion groups located in Europe, since the FTCA is one of
the few support groups in the Americas.
Founded in 2007, FTCA promotes international fair trade via education, media, public
relations and research. Although information on the benefits of fair trade is widely
available, FTCA has as part of its mission the goal of acquiring photographic and
video resources, to thereby improve the communication and outreach of the vital
fair trade approach.
The two most vital technological tools of today are television and the Internet.
FTCA’s most exciting solution to helping through fair trade is the television show,
The Fairtrade Shopping Network. And the site you are visiting now, our I-commerce
Web shopping store, brings needed funds to even the most distant and needy villages
in the world, and the artisans who struggle to provide for their families and communities.
FTCA serves as a conduit for sales from sources throughout the world. There are
numerous distributors of fair trade products, but prior to the establishment of
FTCA, no one has attempted to link up and assist these distributors via the
benefits
of networking.
